Idiosyncratic Accomodations (Solo Exhibition)

Artist Statement (From the Exhibition)

As a designer and fine artist, I have a strong interest in the organic forms found in the natural environment that make up a large part of what we see everyday. These forms, no matter how simple or complex, are
interpreted differently in everyone’s imagination. Creating artwork is my way of allowing you, the viewer, into my mind to see my interpretation of the natural forms that surround us. I use a variety of media in my work, including ceramics, acrylic paint, and found objects.

My unique response to installing an exhibition of my work was to create a room setting to display it in. This allows me to demonstrate the cohesiveness between my fine art and design (created over the course of the last five years) and the threads that run through both of these disciplines. I purposely chose a hotel lobby for my room installation since that environment normally includes paintings, sculpture, and distinctly designed furniture. To complete the overall look, I have designed a corporate branding campaign for my “hotel” lobby.
